To commemorate the day, many countries, including United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia declare a public holiday.Īlong with this, the first 10 days of holy Muharram are extremely important for the muslim community, especially the Shia Muslims. Though the day holds significant importance, no big celebrations are held in Muslim-majority nations. Hujri 1443 AH signifies that it has been 1443 years since Prophet Mohammed’s migration. The upcoming year will be considered as Hijri 1443 AH (In Latin, AH means Anno Hegirae or the year of the Hijra). Fusion now has its main track of Fusion 360 out there, but Project Leopard in beta as well. Right at the moment, it looks like Autodesk, rather than issuing slightly snarky blog posts, is looking to tackle Onshape on its key differentiator.Īnd when that sort of thing happens, we get interesting developments and those developments tend to accelerate. What will be interesting is to see how two develop in the coming months, how pricing and technology adapts and see where Autodesk get to with Project Leopard. So, as we discussed back in April, there’s a normalisation happening. When they said “First to the cloud” what they really meant was “First to go full browser”. Onshape took advantage of that and made a lot of “we’re first” claims that didn’t really stack up to close inspection. The truth is that “the cloud” is an amorphous term and means different things to different folks. In fact, its pretty clear that Onshape’s claims to be the “first cloud-based design system” rankled some at Autodesk. Onshape on the other hand, has always made a big thing about it being “the first and only full-cloud 3D CAD system”. Fusion has, until now, been a client-based system with serious hooks into the cloud. ![]() ![]() When it comes to cloud-based design systems, there’s currently two front runners – Autodesk with Fusion 360 and Onshape’s eponymously titled system. You should also note that we’ve not had much in the way of access to this yet, so we’ve not giving too much detail until we’ve spent some time with it. That’s something we know, from our own research, is what’s driving an interest in the cloud-based technologies. ![]() This looks to be about giving folks access to their data and tools in those cases where they need them and the software isn’t to hand, can’t be installed or in emergencies. It’s also key that this shouldn’t be seen as “Fusion Moving to the Browser”. The Project Leopard UI – worth noting that there’s some differences to Fusion 360 – note the modelling history in the more traditional position on the right hand side, vertically. “In Abuja, people do bring in the fish from outside. “Studies have shown that the toxin in one pufferfish is enough to kill 30 adults in a very short time and then there is no antidote for it. It is also found in places like Abuja and other places in the North and in the South. “You know Lagos is close to the ocean, that is a marine environment. “Yes, they are found everywhere in this country. Mr Dabit said the fish can also be found in Nigeria. “Because of the high risk, chefs must undergo two to three years of training to obtain a fugu preparing license,” he said. ‘’Surprisingly, the meat of some pufferfish is considered a delicacy, especially in Japan and (it) is only specialised chefs that are licensed to even prepare it. It’s mostly seen in Asia countries.”Īccording to him, some people still eat pufferfish around the world, despite having such deadly venom. Speaking to PREMIUM TIMES, Mr Dabit, said, “This fish is so deadly and poisonous. In 2009, there were 50 cases but no deaths. It is the most common natural marine toxin causing food poisoning in the country. Pufferfish is a popular traditional dish in Japan. In the U.S., a case of tetrodotoxin poisoning, related to pufferfish, was reported in Virginia in 2014 and two also occurred in Minneapolis in the same year. ![]() In 2016, five people in an inland community in Sylhet died from eating pufferfish. In 2008, inland populations in Bangladesh reportedly purchased unknowingly cheap pufferfish at local markets, which gave rise to three outbreaks with 141 cases and 17 deaths.Ī similar outbreak occurred in Khulna, involving 37 cases with eight fatalities in 2002. It has also been isolated from other species including California newt, starfish, blue-ringed octopus, goby, parrotfish, angelfish, xanthid crabs and shellfish. In certain species, the internal organs such as the liver, intestines and sometimes the skin contain tetrodotoxin which is highly poisonous when eaten. Majority of these species are toxic, and some are among the most poisonous vertebrates in the world. Report has it that there are more than 120 species of pufferfish worldwide. It belongs to the family of Tetraodontidae, with many species which are variously called pufferfish – toadfish, globefish, blowfish, balloon fish, bubble fish, swellfish, toadies, sea squab, sugar toads and honey toads. Pufferfish, commonly known as fugu in Japan, is found in tropical and subtropical ocean waters, but some species live in fresh and brackish water. Mr Dabit, disclosed this in an interview with PREMIUM TIMES on Monday. The Assistant Director, Fisheries of the Federal Capital Territory Administration’s Department of Fishery, Jonah Dabit, has warned Nigerians to be wary of the danger of consuming a lethal fish animal group called the pufferfish. ![]() Δ133p53/Δ113p53 (its zebrafish ortholog) is an N-terminal truncated isoform and a p53 target gene transcribed from an alternative p53 promoter in intron 4 (ref. Human p53 encodes at least 12 isoforms 16, 17. Under low levels of ROS, p53 transcribes antioxidant genes to maintain redox homeostasis and promote cell survival, whereas, in response to high levels of oxidative stress, p53 triggers apoptotic activity by upregulating the expression of pro-oxidative genes and apoptotic genes 11, 13, 14, 15. The signaling pathway of the tumor repressor p53 plays a key role in response to oxidative stress 9, 10, 11, 12. Therefore, the brain becomes prone to oxidative stress that is proposed as a regulatory factor in aging and the progression of multiple neurodegenerative diseases including Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) 5, 6, 7, 8. Most neuron cells have a large membrane being enriched in polyunsaturated fatty acids, which are highly susceptible to ROS 4, 5. A large amount of oxygen being consumed in the brain leads to excessive production of ROS. ROS at moderate levels is essential for normal cellular signaling, whereas high levels and long-time exposure of ROS can oxidize cellular macromolecules such as DNA, lipids, and proteins, ultimately resulting in abnormal cell death and senescence 4. ROS is a double-edged sword for cell fate determination. ) and the nonradical species hydrogen peroxide (H 2O 2), are generated endogenously such as in the process of mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation, or they may arise from interactions with exogenous sources such as xenobiotics, cytokines and bacterial invasion 1, 2, 3.Reactive oxygen species (ROS), such as superoxide anion (O 2 Our finding provides evidence at the organism level to show that depletion of Δ113p53/Δ133p53 may result in long-term ROS stress, and finally lead to age-related diseases, such as AD and ALS in humans. The results demonstrate that Δ113p53 protects the brain from aging by its antioxidant function. More interestingly, unlike the mutant fish at 5-months old with cognition ability, Δ113p53 M/M zebrafish, but not WT zebrafish, lost their learning and memory ability at 19-months old. Importantly, Δ113p53 M/M mutant telencephalon possessed less proliferation cells and more senescent cells compared to wild-type (WT) zebrafish telencephalon since 9-months old, which was associated with decreased antioxidant genes expression and increased level of ROS in the mutant telencephalon. EDU-labeling and cell lineage tracing showed that Δ113p53-positive cells underwent cell proliferation to contribute to the neuron renewal process. Here, we report that zebrafish Δ113p53, an ortholog of human Δ133p53, mainly expressed in some of the radial glial cells along the telencephalon ventricular zone in a full-length p53-dependent manner. However, it is uncharacterized if Δ133p53 plays a role in brain aging. It has been also found that brain tissues from AD and ALS patients showed decreased Δ133p53 expression. In normal conditions, the basal expression of Δ133p53 prevents human fibroblasts, T lymphocytes, and astrocytes from replicative senescence. In response to low-level ROS stress, the expression of Δ133p53, a human p53 isoform, is upregulated to promote cell survival and protect cells from senescence by enhancing the expression of antioxidant genes. Reactive oxygen species (ROS) stress has been demonstrated as potentially critical for induction and maintenance of cellular senescence, and been considered as a contributing factor in aging and in various neurological disorders including Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). ![]() ![]() Oladipo Salami( 2010 ) :Use and Attitudes Towards Nigerian Pidgin English Amongst Nigerian University Students ( Access on ) Nigerian Pidgin English remains the only language that unifies the 186 million population. Indeed, NPE is considered as a bastardized language as it is yet to have a standard written form. In the country, both the literates, such as the president, campaigning politicians, lawyers, doctors, and non-literates speak and understand pidgin, though it is mostly used in informal situations and English is used for official purposes and the medium of education. NPE is regarded as a bastardization of the English language used by the non-literates, though it is highly spoken in Nigeria by every individual starting from an early age. There are still Portuguese words present in the NPE such as : “ Sabi (to know) and Pikin (child)”. After the departure of the missionaries, this lingua franca did not go with them but remained and is the most widely spoken language in Nigeria today compared to English. It is broken English like Patois and Creole, spoken along the coast of West Africa and it has extended to the diaspora, due to Nigerian migrants. Nigerian Pidgin English (NPE), originated as a lingua franca for trade purposes amongst the Nigerians and the Portuguese merchants during the 17th century. These languages came to serve the linguistic need there, by giving birth to the Cameroon Camfranglais (mixture of French and English) spoken by the youth today. For trade and religious purposes with no language in common they created a form of communication with bases from the European language, giving birth to most African languages: such as Creole, Pidgin, and Patois. During the European quest for new markets and raw materials in the 17th Century, many Portuguese missionaries and traders arrived on the shores of Jamaica and West and Central African countries like: Sierra Leone, Cameroon and Nigeria were largely visited by the missionaries. ![]() Most network newscasts were 15 minutes long, and local TV news was ticky-tacky. When the Village Voice started in the Eisenhower 1950s, TV news had barely come into its own. Maybe, as this eulogy suggests, the city that the the alt-weekly gave “voice” to is no longer there. Yet when I talk to Boomer writers and artists, whether they swore by or swore at what appeared in the Voice, almost all recognized it as the very symbol of New York’s vitality, a carnival of cultures and classes, decades before “diversity” became a political password. By then, the status consciousness, tone policing, snobbery, and credentialism of the Voice and the Weekly (and their very corporate parents’ corporate culture) ensured that there was more of a revolving door than a boundary line between them and the usual suspects over at the “mainstream” Los Angeles and New York Times. More to the point, thanks to corporatization and consolidation, no Millennial and very few younger Xers can really remember when these papers were truly “anti-establishment” or even at the top of their game in any real sense. When Entertainment Today, LA Valley Beat/City Beat, the Brooklyn Rail, and other “alt-weeklies” died gruesome deaths in the run-up or aftermath of the Great Recession (I worked for ET early in my career), the reaction of the league-leading LA Weekly and Village Voice people at the time ranged from eye-rolling laughter to dancing on our graves. I churlishly thought that I would have just as much sympathy for them as they had for many of my friends and colleagues who weren’t among the few chosen to work in their hallowed halls-which is to say, almost none. When I first heard about the death of the Village Voice on August 31 (its print edition was euthanized last year, which had left it publishing mostly online), I had much the same reaction as I had to the December 2017 downsizing and restructuring at the Voice ’s longtime Los Angeles counterpart LA Weekly. Since the proposed meta-level architecture is generic in nature, other hypermedia systems -including web-based systems- should be able to exploit its benefits. for log maintenance, concurrency control and authority control. This paper derives a meta-level architecture for the renowned Dexter hypermedia model, thereby providing a way to dynamically incorporate mechanisms. Yet, designing a good meta-level architecture is notoriously hard and remains an art rather than a science. Meta-level architectures are recognized as a means to achieve run-time extensibility, and as such have been applied in hypermedia systems. The book is not merely, or perhaps not mainly, biblical exegesis, for within its scope fall some of the most vexing problems of social history-the paradox that violance has social efficacy, the function of the scapegoat, the mechanism of anti-semitism. How does Christianity, at once the most "sacrificial" of religions and a faith with a non-violent ideology, fit into this scheme? Girard grants Freud's point, in Totem and Taboo, that Christianity is similar to primitive religion, but only to refute Freud-if Christ is sacrificed, Girard argues, it is not becuase God willed it, but becaus ehuman beings wanted it. The repression of this collective murder and its repetition in ritual sacrifice then formed the foundations of both religion and the restored social order. ![]() In primitive societies, such crises were resolved by the "scapegoating mechanism," in which the community, en masse, turned on an unpremeditated victim. At certain points in the life of a society, according to Girard, this mimetic conflict erupts into a crisis in which all difference dissolves in indiscriminate violence. Girard's point o departure is what he calles "mimesis," the conflict that arises when human rivals compete to differentiate themselves from each other, yet succeed only in becoming more and more alike. In a dialogue with two psychiatrists (Jean-Michel Oughourlian and Guy Lefort), Girard probes an encyclopedic array of topics, ranging across the entire spectrum of anthropology, psychoanalysis, and cultural production. ![]() This is the single fullest summation of Girard's ideas to date, the book by which they will stand or fall. In its scope and itnerest it can be compared with Freud's Totem and Taboo, the subtext Girard refutes with polemic daring, vast erudition, and a persuasiveness that leaves the reader compelled to respond, one way or another. An astonishing work of cultural criticism, this book is widely recognized as a brilliant and devastating challenge to conventional views of literature, anthropology, religion, and psychoanalysis. ![]() We established a Bank-wide minimum wage in 2016 at $20 per hour, which was increased to $25 per hour in 2018 and then $30 per hour, as recently announced, in early 2021.Īmong the many benefits offered to our colleagues, approximately 39% of our workforce participates in our company-paid Student Loan PayDown (now tax-free) and College SaveUp benefits, receiving direct company contributions to either pay down existing student debt or save for future education expenses.
